Creating Abstract Art Pulls up Energies from Deep Within

The pull was strong from deep within my heart and soul as I created this piece of abstract art with inspiration coming from two sources.

The first was a visit from my eldest son, who I am very close to. Since he lives out west, I only get to see him a couple of times a year, but we chat several times a week.

During his week-long visit in February, we played lots of cribbage...which he won...a lot!!! And we had many deep and meaningful conversations.

After I dropped him off at the airport my home felt so empty, so the first thing I did was head to my studio, painting this piece which flowed effortlessly.

The second inspired source was revealed as this piece of artwork developed. I realized the energy was coming from deep within, and reminded me of the art I aspired to paint when I first began painting 7+ years ago. It felt so surreal, and it was clear this was the style I needed to continue with.

All those years ago I had a vision of what I wanted to express on the canvas, however lacked the necessary skills to do so. After taking a ton of online and in-person courses I now feel I have the ability to express my inner world in soft, ethereal manner, with flow and texture.

I am particularly drawn to the colour blue. 💙 I feel it permeating through me and visualize it in my mind's eye constantly. So, for the time being, I will continue to incorporate these hues in my work.

Choice of Orientation

As you can see from the image on the left and the one below this abstract artwork can be hung in two orientations, vertical or horizontal. When you purchase it I will ask which way is your preference and add the hanging wire to suit your desire.

An excerpt of a poem by Maya Angelou expresses the energies within this piece of original art.

A free bird leaps

on the back of the wind

and floats downstream

till the current ends

and dips his wing

in the orange sun rays

and dares to claim the sky.
